Built For Basketball

Our origin

Where It
Started

Hoops Strength began in 2006 with Matt Jones — then an assistant college basketball coach and a schoolteacher — and a simple observation: the players who wanted extra skill work also needed strength and jump training, and nobody was teaching both together.

It started with private sessions only, one to four players at a time. Those early athletes flourished: strong high-school careers, college players, and a handful who went on to the NBA and WNBA.

In 2017 Matt left teaching to build a dedicated home for the program. In 2020 it opened — roughly 15,000 square feet, two basketball courts and a full functional-fitness area — and with it came programs for every level, from kindergarten on lowered baskets through professional training.

Court To
Weights

Step off the court and onto a full functional-fitness floor — under twenty seconds from the last rep to the first shot. Two full courts mean leagues, small groups and private sessions run side by side without waiting on gym time.

  • Two full basketball courts, with lowered baskets for our youngest players

  • Functional-fitness floor for performance strength and jump training

  • Dr. Dish shooting machines, dribble stations, and half-court rentals by the hour

  • Room to train whole teams by splitting them into small pods

What drives us

Our Method

Three things behind every session, every season.

Skills and strength together

Handle, finishing, footwork and reads — with the strength and jump work that makes any of it hold up in the fourth quarter.

Coaches who have coached

Former college players who have run scholastic benches from freshman to varsity — several coach at the college level today.

Then you play

Every program ends in live play. What your player learns in the skills block gets used in a game the same night.
